I bought the Mesa V2 for my grandson, and from the moment we got it out of the box, I was impressed. UPPAbaby clearly put a lot of thought into how this seat works for real parents and babies, especially when safety matters most. The design, build, and features show that nothing was skimped on, and when it comes to a grandchild, you want every safety measure in place.
One of the standout features is the SmartSecure system. It uses auto-retracting LATCH connectors and a red-to-green tightness indicator. That indicator is gold for anyone who’s ever wondered if their installation is “just right.” It’s almost effortless to tell you’ve done it properly. The base installs solidly and securely, which gives me peace of mind every time we click him in.
The seat also includes a robust infant insert that helps with fit and positioning for very small babies (roughly 4 to 11 pounds), which means he’s held snugly without any awkward gaps. The headrest is padded well, with side impact protection, and the materials all around feel high quality, soft, breathable, and apparently free from fire-retardant chemicals, which is a big plus. The UPF 25+ canopy is significantly larger than older versions, so it shields better from sun and light, something you notice especially when using it with the stroller.
It connects directly to UPPAbaby Vista and Cruz strollers without needing adapters, which makes switching between car and stroller much faster. For travel or rides where you don’t want to haul the base, there’s a European routing seatbelt path so you can use it safely without the base. That flexibility is very welcome.
If I had to point out drawbacks, the base is a bit bulky, it takes up noticeable space in the vehicle. Also, while the crash test results are within standards, some expert reviews suggest it doesn’t outperform some competing seats in extreme impact tests. But for everyday use I believe it offers a solid balance of comfort, convenience, and safety.

If you’re looking for a safe and reliable car seat for your baby that’s not bulky look no further. It’s lightweight yet super sturdy. The cushions are padded and so soft for your little baby as well as the ease of having the little holes to put the metal adapter in while you put your baby in the seat vs others where you’re fighting to keep it just right. But the weight is honestly what sold me. Babies already weigh enough so having a light yet super safe seat is so nice. It’s so easy to just snap in and out of the base and even easier to set up.

I have 3 kids and have had several UPPAbaby seats through the years and their entire travel system plus all the accessories. I have always loved the convenience and style of the UPPAbaby car seat but with my 3rd baby, we originally wanted to try out another brand similar to UPPAbaby that was baseless as we needed the flexibility of no base when trying to squeeze 3 large car seats in my car. While that other brand’s seat was convenient, it just didn’t feel as secure as the UPPAbaby seat.
My husband was actually in a vehicle accident with 2 of my kids in the car (everyone was save, except the truck was totaled) and because of that, we had to get all new car seats, fortunately covered by insurance. Thankfully my baby wasn’t in the truck at the time, but the empty carseat from the other brand we had tested out was in there and then needed to be replaced. Instead of getting the same one from the other brand, we knew we immediately should go back to UPPAbaby because we trust the brand to keep our kids safe, even after testing other luxury brands. I’m thankful to have this seat and have trusted it with all 3 of my kids.
It is also easy to take in and out of the car. I love that it has the slots to hold the buckles back, and has many inserts that can be taken out as baby grows. I do wish it was a little lighter and and possibly accommodated a bigger baby, but I think that’s just part of how the seat as to be. I wouldn’t say it’s too heavy because honestly when you’ve got a 90th percentile 6 month old, any carseat is heavy! That said, my daughter is large (very long) and is starting to outgrow it already. Overall though, I have been very happy with this car seat.

I LOVE this car seat. We got very lucky and started using it a week ago with our newborn. He sits in it comfortably. There’s a lot of extra padding to ensure safety and comfort. I like that the padding is tight around his little head making it even more relaxing for both him and I. The buttons are all easy to push, I do struggle with the button that the two clips clip into. I also don’t like when you put up the sun blocker that it clicks loudly. But quality is over the top, looks absolutely amazing. Everything is adjustable to your growing baby.

I purchased this as a gift for my son and daughter-in-law who were expecting their first child. I was very happy with the high quality of the product. The plastic chair/shell is very sturdy yet light weight. The fabric is soft and comfortable with ample protective padding. It is easy to install in the vehicle and just as easy to remove to use in the stroller. It’s well worth the price to protect my new granddaughter.

I really liked this car seat. It’s easy to carry (a little heavy especially with a baby inside) and I was able to fit it in the middle seat of my backseat in my smaller car with plenty of room left. Super easy to install. Can attach to other stroller types but you will need an adapter for them, a little pricey but all around worth it. Kept my baby safe and cozy.

I absolutely love this carseat! I was in-between this one and a nuna carseat but went with this one to keep the same travel system with my vista stroller and it is so easy to use. it clicks right into the base seamlessly and looks comfortable. Not to mention it has great safety ratings. I have not used the European belt path yet but I love that it has the option to use it when we travel. Great quality! And very pretty looking!

EXTREMELY easy to install and use with Cruz stroller. Baby seems very safe, comfy and snug. Basically just falls asleep in this immediately. I considered going with the more expensive Uppababy option but totally happy with this one. I read a lot of reviews- There was concern that the canopy was too loud compared with more expensive model- it’s sort of loud (I guess ?) but my baby has never stirred to it so can’t say I personally have had an issue with that. I got the grey to avoid concern of overheating with the black- not summer yet so can’t speak to overheating. I don’t think baby will fit in the newborn insert through 11lbs (currently 8/9 and pretty tight), but easy enough to remove it whenever we need to. Very happy with purchase!

My now 10 week old will scream bloody murder the entire time he’s in this seat. Even if it’s for over an hour. We’ve tried everything from removing the shoulder strap padding and infant insert and adding toys to the bar. He won’t stop screaming. As the parent I hate the car seat for my own reasons. It’s heavy. It states you don’t need the base/when using a different car you can install it with the seat buckle like an old school car seat. It slides around. Only did that once and do not trust with without the base. It’s so hard to get the baby in and out of the thing. It’s a torture device I’m convinced. So mad I missed the return window. We finally caved and ordered a different one today after a horrible ride in the car. Idk if it’s the recline or shape or the headrest padding but he is otherwise a very happy baby and screams blood curdling screams the entire time he’s in it. I thought we had pinched his skin with the buckle how bad it is. 10/10 do not recommend. Only bought it because it fit with the stroller (which we love) but I wish I never bought this waste of money

This seat is deeper than a lot of baby seats. Luckily the lining keeps the baby cool. This seat is not light to carry. If you are looking for something to carry the baby around in, this isn’t it. If you are looking for a safe, and durable seat, this is it. Unfortunately for the money, I wish it were front facing as well, but it does not convert.

At 2 months old, we love this car seat but it took me a bit!At first, the infant insert was great. It is hard to get it super tight as the strap is not long at all to pull. Luckily my pinky fit at the end of the strap to pull. As our baby grew, he wasn’t quite big enough to remove the insert but he started going chin to chest. We ended up making the call and removing it and now at 2 months, he is comfy and safe! Tip: recline base all the way back to avoid chin to chest in this car seat.

I am so bummed on this car seat! It looks great and is probably safe, however, getting my baby in and out was so challenging and she cried the entire she was in it from entry to exit. The bucket is too deep and was clearly very uncomfortable for her. The head area is way too tight unless your baby has a very small head. I would get anxiety each time I had to out her in it due to the fact I knew she was going to cry the entire car ride. My 2 older kids(toddlers) would hate going anywhere with her in the car because of how much she would cry. I bought Nuna and she didn’t cry once and was visibly much more comfortable. Worth the money for many reasons, mainly my sanity!

We love these seats so much we bought two for our daughter. The base is super easy to install, move and use daily. The actual seat is high quality, durable and so easy and light. Is there better seats? Probably, but for what we paid we are happy. Works with our Uppababy vista V2, the baby seems to like it as well.

I like that the padding is tight around his little head making it even more relaxing for both him and I. The buttons are all easy to push, I do struggle with the button that the two clips clip into. I also don’t like when you put up the sun blocker that it clicks loudly. But quality is over the top, looks absolutely amazing. Everything is adjustable to your growing baby.
