Wow, I was really pleased and happy with this purchase for the price paid. It does everything I wanted it to and more. The purpose was to see and check on my cats while on vacation. The picture quality is pretty darn good, too, even the night vision. So many good things about this: the app let’s you pan almost the whole room, tilt up and down, zoom in, set motion detection and notifications, and even follow the motion around if you want, and you can even speak into your phone so your pets can hear you! And what can be better than this? No subscription needed for all that! There is a subscription option, but I didn’t sign up for it, so I’m not sure what that entails. Some reviews mentioned getting a memory card, but I didn’t get one, and it’s fine for my purposes. The cord is long, which is super helpful. Highly recommend!

Bought this to keep track of our senior dog. It has really helped to see what he is doing – mostly sleeping. It was very easy to setup as well. Picture is clear – a little laggy but still a quality video. Ability to pan around and also communicate verbally with the microphone is a plus.

I was looking for a second cat camera to monitor our cats when we’re away from home, with specific needs: two-way audio, local and cloud recording, motion detection with alerts, and clear video with night vision. The TP-Link Tapo Pan/Tilt Security Camera, on sale for just $19, checked all my boxes and exceeded expectations with some unexpected bonuses. Here’s my experience to help you decide if this camera is right for you.
Performance and Features
The 1080P video is sharp and clear, providing enough detail to see what my cats are up to, even in low light thanks to the reliable night vision. The pan/tilt feature allows me to cover a wide area of the room, and the motion detection works flawlessly, sending alerts to my phone and triggering house lights when set up. The two-way audio is a fun bonus—I tested it and startled my cats by speaking through the camera when I wasn’t in the room! My wife loves that we can share video clips easily through the app, which adds a nice touch for capturing cute moments.
Setup and Integration
Setup was a breeze, and I was thrilled to find that the Tapo app automatically integrated with my existing Kasa app, adding the camera to my master device list without any extra effort. It works seamlessly with both Alexa and Google Home, allowing voice commands and linking motion alerts to control smart lights in the house. I inserted a 128GB Class 10 micro-SD card for local recording, which provides up to 16 days of continuous storage, and I also set up cloud recording for added peace of mind. Both recording options work perfectly for my needs.
Verdict
At $19, this camera is an absolute steal for a pet or baby monitor. It delivers clear video, reliable motion detection, two-way audio, and night vision, with the added flexibility of local and cloud storage. The seamless integration with the Kasa app, Alexa, and Google Home makes it incredibly user-friendly, and the ability to share clips is a fun perk. Whether you’re keeping an eye on pets, kids, or your home, this camera offers premium features at a budget-friendly price. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a versatile, high-quality security camera.
Pro Tip: Pair it with a high-capacity micro-SD card (like a 128GB Class 10) for extended local recording, and take advantage of the Alexa/Google Home integration to link motion alerts with smart home devices for added convenience. If you find this useful please mark as Helpful!

I’ve been using this Tapo Wi-Fi camera for a few days now and I’m really impressed. The image quality is sharp, even at night with the infrared mode. Setup through the Tapo app was quick and very user-friendly.
It connects reliably to Wi-Fi and sends motion alerts to my phone instantly. The app also lets me control the camera remotely and view live video with no lag.
I use it to monitor my front door and it gives me peace of mind, even when I’m away. Definitely worth the price if you need a reliable home security camera.

This is a great camera. I love the motion tracking feature (moves and follows motion). The camera in general works great. Clarity is awesome especially considering I have it inside sitting on my windowsill facing outside. Connection is also great. I was a little worried when I saw some reviews on here about people having trouble setting it up and connecting it but I’ve had none. Honestly the setup was simple. Had it set up in about 10 mins and it’s no where near my wifi router(other side of the house actually). This particular model has aloooooottt of settings and features which I don’t use alot of but the app makes it super easy to understand all of them if you wanna use them (has explanations under each one) I also like the fact you can increase or decrease the sensitivity of motion or people tracking/recording. I had to change the motion sensitivity the other day because it was windy and it sensed the motion of my rose bush so my notifications were blowing up lol. But all around it’s an absolute great camera. And the price is phenomenal. The stick up ring camera I was going to get before I found this one is $80 and it doesn’t even motion track.

You can’t beat the price. I bought this camera about a month ago now as a spare for another room to spy on my cat last minute while I was away on vacation. I already have a Wyze camera that works well and I’d say they’re very compatible. The video quality is decent, sound is loud and clear, app is easy to navigate, I haven’t had an issue with WiFi connection, set up was very simple and fast. Overall I’m happy with my purchase! It gave me the extra peace of mind this crazy cat mom was hoping for, shipped fast and was super cheap compared to other indoor cameras.

I am thoroughly impressed with it! The installation process was very easy and straightforward, and I was up and running in no time. The image quality is fantastic and I love how the camera range is designed to leave minimum blind spots. The motion detection feature works great and I’ve been able to receive alerts whenever there is any activity detected in the area that I’m monitoring.
One of the things that I particularly appreciate about this camera is the microphone’s sensitivity. It picks up sounds really well, and I am able to hear everything that’s going on in the area I’m monitoring. Additionally, the night vision is a really nice feature, as it provides clear images even in low light conditions.
Finally, I have to give a shoutout to the app – it’s incredibly intuitive and user-friendly, making it very easy to navigate even for someone who is new to the world of home security cameras. Overall, I highly recommend the TP-Link Tapo camera to anyone looking for an easy-to-use, high-quality security camera for their home or office.

The camera does what it says, and is great for the price. A simple to use and effective camera. Display quality is very good, audio is basic but what do you expect for the price? No issues with setup. Just wish it would allow deletions of movement recordings by the app. Overall very happy.

I am really pleased with the TP-Link Tapo Pan/Tilt Security Camera (Tapo C200). Firstly, the tracking function of this camera is impressive. It’s quite practical and operates at an ideal speed, seamlessly tracking movements as long as they aren’t too rapid, which is perfect for real-time monitoring. Secondly, I appreciate the ability to customize the camera’s angles and positions and then save these settings. This feature is particularly useful for me as I can define two positions and switch between them at the touch of a button to monitor specific areas of interest.
Another significant advantage of this camera over my previous Kasa camera is the ability to view the stream in real-time on my computer via RTSP protocol without needing to use an app. This adds a layer of convenience and flexibility in how I use the camera.
However, there are a couple of areas where I think improvements could be made. I wish the vertical rotation angle of the lens were slightly larger, which would enhance the camera’s coverage. Additionally, the Tapo app occasionally loses the camera’s signal, which can be frustrating and definitely needs improvement. Due to this issue, I’m deducting one star from my review.
Overall, despite some minor shortcomings, this camera is a great tool for anyone looking to enhance their home security system. It’s especially ideal for monitoring babies or pets, and its integration with Alexa and Google Home makes it even more user-friendly and accessible.

I haven’t used them that much but this is so easy to set up. The sound quality and motion detection are very great attributes. The quality of the video is 1080p which is very good. Great bang for your buck.

I must say that this camera has surpassed my expectations in terms of reliability and clarity, especially for its price. I was pleasantly surprised as I was initially expecting a lower quality product. I purchased it to keep an eye on my pets while I’m at work, and it has gone above and beyond what I had hoped for. The view is outstanding and I am able to communicate through it as well. After using it for a year, it continues to work flawlessly without any issues. I can easily interact with my pets from anywhere with an internet connection. If you are in search of a budget-friendly camera that is high-quality, simple to set up and operate, I wholeheartedly recommend this one.

We purchased the KASA models for our home in Florida, but KASA cameras are expensive here in Canada. So we went with this model, based on the price we paid in the US for KASA. The camera came on time and as advertised.Thes TAPO cameras are obviously made by the same company as KASA, they look exactly the same the only difference is that you need to download the TAPO app. The camera is easy to install, and once the app is loaded onto your phone, it takes a couple of minutes to connect. The picture quality is great, it works EXACTLY like the KASA, and interestingly enough, when I opened the TAPO app, my Kasa cameras in Florida appeared there, there’s obviously an intuitive feature built into the app! I dont even need to go to my KASA app. to view my cameras in my Florida home, there. This TAPO camera is very good with a high quality picture, the only issue is that on the app, there is no opportunity for shutting down SPECIFIC notifications, such as people movement, noise, etc. so unless you go into the settings on your phone to shut down ALL notifications, you will get one movement notification after another on your phone. KASA is much easier to use in that it has settings to shut down specific notifications. However, I would recommend the TAPO camera, the price is good and it works well. Just needs app improvements, I think. Woud I order again? Probably.

Works well for a low-cost cam. Once I was able to turn off alarms and other annoyances, it works well. Motion is too sensitive as it locks onto the ceiling fan if it was enabled. Had to turn off detect motion sensing to prevent this. Good peace of mind when I am not at home. Can pan and tilt remotely through the app if desired.

Highly recommend this camera. Easy set up and works like a dream. Bought this to be able to monitor my sleep, anytime I move the tiniest bit at night the camera begins recording and documents it on a timeline schedule. Then I’m able to review exactly what time and the video footage of movement throughout the night. Great connection with live feed through the app, no matter where you are. Very customizable with alerts or detections. Highly recommend purchasing an SD card though. I’m very pleased with this system.

Just perfect and for the price, wow! This camera even pans left, right up down! Super great product. The only con is the siren doesn’t work? Only worked once. But other than that it’s a nice camera. I’ve been using it for indoor, but I think it may even be a good outdoor cam as well 👏

This thing works great. The audio is poor and I have not figured out how all the cloud storage works. Actually, given the poor quality of the instructions, it is amazing I figured out how to use the thing at all. I have bought other electronics from this company and it seems to be their downfall. Their website is virtually useless and the specific instructions for this camera actually list features it does not have (sd card capability). But if you fiddle with it, you can figure it out on your own. Works great in the dark and has good picture quality. Like all these cameras there are limits to up and down movement, but it does 360 easily.
