**update: less than a year old and the range is getting shorter and shorter. I now need to use the antenna just to walk go into a room across the hall or I lose the connection.
The battery life is awful! Dim screen when quiet isn’t good at all. When on “highest” sensitivity the screen never dims and the monitor sounds like white noise but on “high” sensitivity I can hear the baby fussing and crying through her closed door across the hall long before the monitor turns on to let me know she’s awake. And her crib and my bed are on opposite sides of the house!! I should definitely hear her on the monitor first. I haven’t even attempted to use a lower sensitivity because I don’t want her going ballistic in the middle of the night before the monitor recognizes she’s awake. You can turn the volume all the way off on the video feed but the menu button response is kinda loud at 2am and there no way to shut it off or turn it down. Don’t know why…I don’t need a loud beep every time I enter a menu setting. Temp alert is crap. I set the low to 64 and it started alarming at 67. Set the high to 75 and it would alarm at 73. I gave up on using it after the 1st week of fluctuating weather in New England.
Best suited for a single level home, the monitor losses connection when I go downstairs. As a plus, the picture is good and night vision works very well. To be honest I bought it because I had higher expectations from VTech than a no name company. I’ll keep it but would have made a different choice if I had used it prior to purchase

This is my third or fourth baby monitor purchase that I’ve kept, but I’ve probably bought close to 7 of 8 monitors total. I have a 9yo who doesn’t sleep well and sleep walks, so it’s imperative that I have a video monitor.
The nighttime quality is awful. But I can at least hear her if she wakes up. I’ve only had it installed about a week but so far, it’s helped me see her leave her room.
The huge disadvantages are the poor video quality? The fact that you can’t pan/tilt the monitor from the display and that if you have a small room, you can’t visually see the whole room as it’s super zoomed in.
While it’s not the best I’ve had, it’s not the worst I’ve purchased. But I truly would invest in this camera unless the room is quite big, or if you have a small baby that you need good nighttime video quality,

The battery just will not charge. I charge it overnight and it stays at 1 bar.
I like that it’s simple and easy to use. I like that it comes with a separate viewer and not an app on the phone since this can sit right on my desk without my phone screen being on all the time wasting battery.
Only thing is the quality of picture and night vision (or even when it’s slightly dark) is not so great. The camera does need to be plugged in and not wire free, which is not what I was originally looking for. Either way I kept the product and happy wiht it in general. It serves its purpose although not the best, it is affordable.

I bought 2 returned units. One was pristine. The twist ties were still on the power cords. Works perfectly. The other had been used, but the customer didn’t return the power cable to the parent unit. It works fine, and I can charge it with the cable from the other monitor, but it did have a component missing and would not have been functional if I had not bought two identical units.
Funny thing is that the box containing the incomplete unit was in a plastic bag with green bars and text that said “READY TO SHIP”.

This product is incredible, my baby is 11 months old now and we have been using it every single day for 11 months with no decline in its abilities.
We use it every single night, and during the day for our baby’s naps. We have never had any connection issues, it is not connected to the Wi-Fi so it can always work. The battery life is still incredible, I don’t think I’ve ever lost battery even when I accidentally leave it on all day. I keep it plugged in all night too. I like the small screen, you can fit it in your pocket and even go garden outside with it, and the connection still stays. I think the only negative I have found is that if the power goes out it doesn’t work. Because the physical camera needs to be plugged in. So unless you’re in an area that gets power outages all the time, I highly recommend this product. We bought a second one just to throw in our diaper bag, so that when we visit family or go out of town, we just have a second one ready to set up in any room at all times. As for the image quality, I find it perfectly fine. If you are an insanely anxious parent and need to be able to see the physical air come in and out of your baby’s nostrils, it probably is not high-quality enough for you. I could usually see my baby breathing if I looked long/hard enough. But mainly it’s just good at seeing how your baby is shifting around, and the microphone is incredibly good so you can absolutely hear when the baby is crying or rustling around. It definitely has night vision, I can totally see my baby at night in the dark. I do wish I could switch between night and day vision sometimes, because every so often (usually in the pack n play with the White mesh) it gets confused and switches it to the wrong setting and then I have trouble seeing my baby.

This is a great baby monitor that does not need to connect to wifi! It is super easy to use and the monitor has a good battery life on it. I use this when traveling and for the price, it really is a great product! I have yet to have any problems with it! While I do love it, I am not sure I would make this my primary monitor (personally) I feel the wire that connects to the monitor is quite short and getting the best angle would be a little difficult for full-time use. The picture is too zoomed in for me and I prefer to see the whole body. None-the-less, the picture quality is great and audio works well for a great price, I wont leave out of town without this.

For the price, the monitor works great. Clear picture, good range, monitor has good battery life. The thing that needs adjusting it the brightness of the two. The camera has this green light that just shines in my baby’s face and if the monitor is off but the camera is on, the light blinks. The monitor could act like a flashlight on its lowest brightness setting. So be prepared to be blinded when checking on your baby at night.
UPDATE: We had our second son about 6mos after we stopped using this with my first. When we hooked it up, we discovered that the monitor no longer worked! Barely a year of having it and the monitor stopped working.

Been using for 3 months. We have a one bedroom and she made a lot of noise that triggered me awake even though she wasnt awake lol. So we started putting her crib in the closet and nows its in the living room, i use this monitor to keep watch on her. It shows the temp and holds battery for about 2 days before needing to be charged. Its the bare minimum and it does the job well. I have gone down to the apartment’s office for a package before one time and i wanna say i was about 200ft away from her before the monitor lost signal to the webcam. Do not waste your money on this product. Unit looks great and easy to set up but cry detection or VOX setting doesn’t work it only functions for the screen so the sound remains on at all times. I tried multiple times to see if it was defective but the instructions only list the screen turning off not the sounds. This means it is always on so battery life is horrible and the unit doesn’t function at night because every little noise in the room you will hear. By something better my $30 monitor I had before this one worked 100 times better.

These monitors are my favorite. As a stay-at-home mom of 3 with one on the way, I like everything about these. I’ve purchased 3 of them, and my oldest finally went out (after 3 years of use, including being unplugged overnight, going with us on multiple trips, and being used for multiple naps a day – it was in my nursery). Of course I wish it had lasted longer, but I am satisfied with that longevity.
Essential features in a baby monitor, in my mind, include…
-the ability to mute (I can’t believe they make monitors that don’t – trust me, you want to mute it even if it is just for the minute the baby is crying while you are going to get them, if not, say, long enough to go to the bathroom first, etc.)
-sound up and down – I am a light sleeper, I need it very quiet, and I can still hear even our white noise through the monitor, but I like to turn it up when, say, taking a shower or watching tv
-a video screen (my babies are quiet when they wake up, I like to see if their eyes are open, and I like to know if something happened, like a foot caught in the crib wall, that requires my attention)
-a good long charge – these last well over 12 hours (I run sound only for most of that time, no screen), though they take a bit to charge up after, often longer than the hour or two before the first nap, but catch up later in the day
-a reliable charger, preferably not a usb one, those seem to break easily
-decent range. Mine can reach a few houses away, especially if a house itself is not in the way. I can easily take it down the street to check my mailbox and stay to chat with a neighbor while knowing the baby is still sleeping soundly. I cannot leave the neighborhood, which is not a bad thing.
-not terribly expensive
-personally, I like the walkie-talkie option, I use it to talk to my toddlers sometimes, saying such things as, “Ok, it is time to lay down and sleep now” or “I am coming up to get you now, please wait patiently”
This monitor has all of these features, plus more, like music (including different sound options, all of which last for 30 minutes, and continue with the parent monitor muted so you don’t have to listen to it), temperature warnings (good to know if the heat/cool in baby’s room goes out), and temperature on the screen. I personally appreciate that this is a closed camera, no video is being tracked or able to be hacked. The one thing I remember wishing for when I first got this monitor was a clip, to hook into a belt loop or something. My previous monitor had that feature and I liked being able to bring the monitor with me into different rooms without having to think about it. Perhaps it would be nice to have a battery in the camera, so you aren’t woken up for any power outages, but I haven’t minded that too much, power outages wake me up indefinitely anyway.
If you are looking for a monitor, I highly recommend this one. After 3 kids and 3 different monitors tried, this is the only one I own now.

At first I loved this baby monitor but within the 1st week I noticed the power saving mode doesn’t always turn off when the baby wakes up or cries. I would lay her down and watch the camera as she was fussing and the camera just went black. This has happened multiple times. I have had multiple times where the power saving mode would turn on when she was asleep and the camera did not come back on when she woke up. She was crying and I could hear it from across the house but the monitor stayed black. Will not be using this camera when she is in her own room or if I’m not able to consistently push a button to keep the power saving mode off. The picture is good, night quality and range are good and I love it doesn’t connect to WiFi but not being able to trust that it’ll turn on when your baby is crying ruins all of that.

So disappointed with this camera system.
First, the cameras cannot be charged so they must be plugged in 24/7. This means you will have cords running down the walls or throughout the room which is a huge safety hazard for a mobile baby.
Second, the standard zoom on the camera is around 4x what it should be. You CANNOT zoom out, you can only zoom in one magnification and it’s basically a super close up. We have a regular sized crib and 9 foot walls and in order to see the full crib we have to put the camera close to the ceiling, which means we have an ugly white cord running down the wall to the outlet that we can’t hide.
Unsure how this has so many great reviews. The design flaws are just atrocious, imo. Rechargeable cameras and a huge reduction in the zoom would be incredibly beneficial. I’ve attached 3 photos to show the size of the room and the zoom of the camera. (we have a tummy time mat in the crib as we wait for our mattress to arrive)

Random Factoids –
We bought this to use when our granddaughter is visiting and it is exactly what we needed! We’ve been using it for over a year now. The video quality is great and the monitor’s battery lasts forever. It has great range – we have a 4000 square foot house and we have connectivity no matter where we are in the house. There’s nothing to set up – you just plug it in and it’s ready to go. For the price, it’s definitely a great value for a secure non-wifi option, a small monitor to throw in the diaper bag for travel, or to keep at Gigi’s house!

The VM819 model has surprisingly poor range, with audio cutting in and out for seconds at a time just a short distance away. The PTZ version (VM923), on the other hand, has outstanding range thanks to external antennas on each end, better than anything else I’ve tested. (Though the PTZ camera is larger, in case that’s a consideration.) Any successor to the VM819 really should adopt the external antennas of the VM923.
Unfortunately, the parent unit for the VM923 (not interchangeable with the VM819’s) allows only panning with the hard buttons, requiring a trip through the (very slow) menu to adjust the volume. (In contrast, the VM819 uses the hard buttons for volume and brightness.) This really should have been configurable on the VM923 parent unit.
This was the deal-breaker for me, since I nearly never need to aim the camera and frequently need to adjust the volume (and I need better range than the VM819). I ended up going with the Babysense V24R, with sensible button layout and excellent range (somewhat less than the VM923, but far better than VM819), and a more compact parent unit.
Both the VM819 and VM923 have a non-replaceable battery in the parent unit and have an extremely slow UI, taking several seconds to toggle the display off to monitor audio only. (This made adjusting volume on the VM923 even worse.) Also, as others have noted, the alert tone when the parent unit loses signal is *extremely* loud, no matter your selected volume. These are all better on the V24R.
That said, when in range, the VM819 and VM923 video and audio are fine, and the camera and display both work well.

I tried this because I needed to be away from my newborn with out checking back in the room and waking her up continuously. This was better than I thought it clearly had a night light feature that showed me my baby was very quiet and kept a clear quality picture on her. This baby monitor is great for our 4th baby. We didn’t want all the fancy features, bells and whistles, etc. that a lot of the more expensive brands and models provide. We just want to see and hear our baby from downstairs. This works perfect for that and doesn’t break the bank. It’s also a good size for leaving out in the living room without looking like a big chunky baby accessory. Our only issue is the short battery life, but they provide a long charging cable. We also like the different LED modes on the camera that indicate whether it’s on or off. No one likes being watched from another room while they sleep, so verifying that the camera is OFF when we’re in our room is really handy. Surprising how many more expensive cameras don’t have this.

We got this extra monitor for our room so we could keep an eye on the baby in the bassinet before we climb into bed, and it’s been a lifesaver. The 2.8″ display is clear enough to see the baby fully, and the zoom feature comes in handy for checking little movements. Random Factoids –
The VM819 model has surprisingly poor range, with audio cutting in and out for seconds at a time just a short distance away. The PTZ version (VM923), on the other hand, has outstanding range thanks to external antennas on each end, better than anything else I’ve tested. (Though the PTZ camera is larger, in case that’s a consideration.) Any successor to the VM819 really should adopt the external antennas of the VM923.
Unfortunately, the parent unit for the VM923 (not interchangeable with the VM819’s) allows only panning with the hard buttons, requiring a trip through the (very slow) menu to adjust the volume. (In contrast, the VM819 uses the hard buttons for volume and brightness.) This really should have been configurable on the VM923 parent unit.
This was the deal-breaker for me, since I nearly never need to aim the camera and frequently need to adjust the volume (and I need better range than the VM819). I ended up going with the Babysense V24R, with sensible button layout and excellent range (somewhat less than the VM923, but far better than VM819), and a more compact parent unit.
Both the VM819 and VM923 have a non-replaceable battery in the parent unit and have an extremely slow UI, taking several seconds to toggle the display off to monitor audio only. (This made adjusting volume on the VM923 even worse.) Also, as others have noted, the alert tone when the parent unit loses signal is *extremely* loud, no matter your selected volume. These are all better on the V24R.
That said, when in range, the VM819 and VM923 video and audio are fine, and the camera and display both work well.

So happy I bought this. Very affordable camera monitor. I’m also glad you do not need WiFi since we can’t get good WiFi where we live. Other than placing the camera and making sure they were both plugged in (or at least charged for the monitor) you didn’t have to set anything up we turned it on and it connected immediately and it worked. You can adjust the volume and brightness of the screen which would be the only things you’d have to set up if you wanted. Very easy to use. I like the night vision so it works well in low light at night. The only thing I regret is not getting the 2 camera option for future use but very happy with this camera. It does have some other bells and whistles like being able to talk through the camera and music to be played but we barely use those functions.

the problem for me is for my wife with dementia I needed super portable, i did not realize the camera has to be plugged in all the time.
i need self power so to move to yard, car, and anyplace I may need to be away for a minute.
i must look for a self power or invest more money to power camera on the go. will be difficult because MUST use their supplied transformer plugged into 120 volt outlet. this can not be powered by a USB power like in car. my own fault
any thought welcome, i know i could use a small inverter but then still need to power it on the go.
I do think it is too stupid complicated though. why can we just not have something you turn on and use, not several different things to program and set. I JUST want to see my baby . came quick, ready to go with a charge.

I’ve been using this wireless baby camera for a few weeks now and I’m genuinely impressed with its performance. We got this to take on trips with us. I really don’t like it compared to the HelloBaby one we have set up in our sons room. This vtech one has a light that is either blinking or constant and it lights up the whole room. It’s incredibly annoying. The picture quality is good but for like $15 more with other brands you can get one that you can pan around and move and zoom in. This is fine for traveling but I’d never use it permanently due to how bright the camera is. The monitor has lights that flash a lot too and are annoying as the parent 🤣

I ordered and received the VTech VM819 Baby Monitor with a camera, two-way audio, and night vision. I needed this to monitor my father while he was going through hospice. This allowed us to be at different places in the house and to hear him when he had needs or if he started to wander.
This monitor also offers lullabies, though that’s a feature we obviously didn’t use. It does not offer WiFi.
We used this constantly while my father was in hospice. The 2-way audio works quite nicely, the night vision is incredibly effort, the picture quality is good, and the size of the monitor made it easy to use on a bedside table.
I was happy with the pricing here. I knew we’d likely be using this for a limited amount of time, however, I also knew we wanted a quality set-up at a fair price. We got both.

This camera is the perfect compact size. The tilt and swivel feature makes it easy for me to look all around the room. There doesn’t seem to be any lag even when I go outside with the parent monitor. It seems to be very well made and has a fairly long cord so it can be mounted high. It was easy to set up and the night vision has been great for middle of the night checks since our child moved into their own room.

I got it thinking it would just be a nice little backup monitor, but I actually like it just as much as the pricey Vava one. It is easier to take with you if you travel, so that’s cool. I highly recommend for a spare, or as your main monitor, or for anyone keeping your baby at their house.

Perfect monitor for on the go! Compact and easy to pack, picture quality is good and overall durability has been good as we have traveled with it multiple times and it has held up great! It has all the features you could want including the temp in the room. The only downside to it is the angle can be hard to get in the crib with the camera so sometimes you have to try to make it work as the camera part isn’t the most flexible for putting it just anywhere. Overall though highly recommend!

I ordered and received the VTech VM819 Baby Monitor with a camera, two-way audio, and night vision. I needed this to monitor my father while he was going through hospice. This allowed us to be at different places in the house and to hear him when he had needs or if he started to wander.
This monitor also offers lullabies, though that’s a feature we obviously didn’t use. It does not offer WiFi.
We used this constantly while my father was in hospice. The 2-way audio works quite nicely, the night vision is incredibly effort, the picture quality is good, and the size of the monitor made it easy to use on a bedside table.
I was happy with the pricing here. I knew we’d likely be using this for a limited amount of time, however, I also knew we wanted a quality set-up at a fair price. We got both.
This performed exactly as promised and helped us keep my father safe during his hospice journey. This was a great help in ensuring my father could spend his final days in his own home. I was very grateful for it and would definitely recommend it.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:
Decided on this over the Nanit and thank God I did. My friends that use their phones for the baby monitor with the nanit are struggling. They have to keep the app on to monitor him at all times which means they cant use phone for anything else. And if someone watches your baby they can’t even use the nanit unless you download the app on their phone. My friends has a whole second phone just so her nanny can see the camera. This vtech is so much cheaper and way more effective than the ones that you monitor through the phone. It has every feature you could need- no more no less. It’s so simple and easy to use. Battery life is great lasts 12ish hours. Bought the separate clip to attach to bassinet and it’s been great. Or I can easily move camera to another room if baby is there. Don’t have to worry about mounting or anything. One of the best baby purchases for my house!

This monitor is super clear, does the job! The cameras don’t pan so just make sure you set them correctly. We broke our old one that was fancier but three years old and I wasn’t going to splurge again. This one is great- no complaints.

Easy to use, batteries are amazing with the small monitor screen. The camera is pretty zoomed in so unless you have a high enough spot to place the camera away from the crib, you may only see a portion of the crib.

This is great! It took a little jigging to set it up, the camera doesn’t turn much on the base so it can’t really sit on a surface next to the crib and look in. But my husband mounted it to the wall easily. The battery life has been great, it’s never run out and I just charge it every few days and turn it off between naps. The video quality is good, its pitch black in her room but we can still just about see her breathing on the monitor and that’s very nice!
The camera has a really bright green light to show when it’s on, which is a little annoying because that shines right into our baby’s eyes while she’s napping. We covered it up with masking tape.

It worked great for 11 months, then the screen started bugging out and would go into sleep mode within a couple minutes which wouldn’t be a huge problem except the sound would shut off also. I tried changing the settings, but nothing will change the problem, so it’s too unreliable to use at this point. Otherwise my only other complaint is the volume doesn’t get soft enough and the brightness doesn’t get dim enough.

Used this brand for my son 5 years ago and using them again now. Perfect monitor if you don’t want one that connects to wifi. They have a good range and good battery life. Picture is really clear and pick up the tiniest of sounds and movements.

We have used this for almost 2 years daily. Video is good but don’t expect super high detailed video. I don’t use the 2x zoom, it’s not great anyways. The video is more useful to see if your little one is up or in a weird position. The night vision on it works well but there is an annoying blinking green light on the camera. Screen can be turned off for audio only which is nice. It’s the type of screen that likes to be viewed at specific angles. When titled sideways one direction, you can’t see well.Audio pickup is excellent. Picks up shuffling noise. Sometimes annoyingly picks up dogs barking in the neighborhood so I get to listen to that twice.Battery life. The battery on it is good but after almost 2 years of constant use, the battery is hot when charging and using. Common sign that the battery is dying. Since I need it for just a bit longer, I bought a generic replacement (INR18650CB). 2 screws in the back and then carefully splitting the case in two. 4 screws for the battery holder, un plug and new one goes in. Replacement was about $15 and took a little over a week to come from Babyz Corner.Overall, I would recommend this monitor. Does what I need without being overly complicated. No need to mess with phone apps or wifi connectivity. Signal even reaches when I walk to the mailbox a few houses down.

I waited 9 months before writing this review. This monitor has exceeded my expectations.This would have easily cost much more several years ago before Wi-Fi monitors hit the scene. I did not want a Wi-Fi monitor.The V-tech is simple, easy to use with great quality. I’ve travelled with it and the set up is straight forward. If this monitor ends up breaking in the future I will buy this exact one again. The only thing I don’t love is the brightness. Even on the lowest setting the monitor is bright when turned on. I set the screen to be on black mode while I sleep but will the screen on to see the baby if I hear him.Highly recommend as it gets the job done.

This little monitor is great. I can be out back and still watch my daughter all the way inside the house, so the range is amazing. There is a highway at the back of my yard (about 0.75 acres back) and traffic can get loud in the afternoon, and I can still hear if she wakes up because the volume can be turned up pretty high. Picture is good, and the brightness can be adjusted for when it’s my bedtime as well. The battery lasts very long as well. I can go an entire day off the battery, plug it in at night and it’s good to go again the next morning. Amazing value for the money. Works better than a $200 camera I threw out because it kept losing connection and the battery was absolutely terrible. This is a great monitor system!

I live in Austria and ordered the baby camera from Babyz Corner through a friend. I Was waiting for the camera and even paid for a faster delivery since the one we have is slowly loosing it’s battery hold. I was very disappointed that it came with USA OUTLET PLUGS!!! I can’t rate the camera itself since I didn’t set it up and it’s going back. I’m not going to deal with adapters that will just be inconvenient for me.. To bad I really wanted this camera will see if I can get it with European plugs

I absolutely love this baby monitor!!! I love that it doesn’t use WiFi or a phone app so the camera can’t be hacked!!! I love that all you have to do to make it work is just plug the cameras in and plug the monitor in to charge!!! I love the distance I get with the monitor after it’s charged and love the battery life on it as well!!! My daughter is special needs and has a trach and is hooked up to a ventilator and pulse ox monitors and oxygen machine and I’m able to leave her room now and fix me something to eat and clean my house when I don’t have nurses or her dad here to help me because he works long hours. The volume is clear and loud and picks up beautifully!!! I’m even able to walk my dog and take the monitor with me so I can still watch her and listen for her equipment to go off while I’m walking my dog or doing other things around the house!!! Love the picture quality and the fact that night vision is clear and comes on automatically!!! Highly recommend getting the two camera option instead of just the one!!! Love that I did and can watch and easily flip between cameras!!! I also love the talk feature on it. I can sooth her over the camera if I’m busy until I can get into her room to her!!! My voice is clear and doesn’t sound robotic or static like!!! Love that it’s easy to use and everything!!! I highly recommend this product to any parents out there especially those who are worried about cameras being hacked and being spied on by the outside world. I know that isn’t possible with these cameras and I am so appreciative of that and can rest easier because of it!!! Video and audio is clear and not grainy or fussy!!! Love the portability and functions!!! It even plays soft music if you want it too and I love that there’s no lights on the camera to know it’s on or working or in night mode so it doesn’t keep my kid up at night!!!
