These Water Wow activity books by Melissa & Doug are the best! They’re for my kids, of course, but I love them myself.
It’s just a lot of fun coloring with the water and bringing out the colors of the picture. Then wait for it to dry and start all over!
It entertains for hours! And it’s a great “church” book. Keeps kids quiet with no mess!
We actually received our first of these water books as a gift … from another maker. We LOVED that book so much that I started looking for more. That’s when I found these by Melissa & Doug. They are the same as the other only they have improved the brush. The Melissa & Doug brush is more like a paint brush that is flexible back and forth. The water also flows out at a better rate, which keeps it from coming out too much at a time, so the water is contained in the brush and does not get all over the book. They are also easier for kids to fill up on their own, without adult help. And they hold more water! For the brush alone, I am partial to the Melissa & Doug books. (However, there are more designs available by other brands.) (The price is pretty good when bundled, but alone can get a bit pricey. I wouldn’t pay more than $4.99.)

Fantastic for occupying young children. My 3 year old son doesn’t have much focus for actual colouring in restaurants, but if we take one of these out we can keep him still for a while! Only shame is there is no where to store the pen and is bound to get lost!

My 3.5 year old absolutely loves this. It is fun discovering the colors as they develop through the water painting, and being able to go back to pages he has completed and seeing that the water has evaporated and being able to do the pages again. He wants me to do them with him, which is fun. He will ask me to do the wheels, or the cloud and we will guess what color we think it will be. It’s a lot of fun and something we can do together. He feels successful in that it is something he can do and not be frustrated with while he is learning dexterity skills.

I can’t say enough good things about the Melissa & Doug Water Wow books! These are a total lifesaver for car rides, restaurants, or quiet play at home. My toddlers absolutely love watching the colors appear like magic when they “paints” with the water pen.
I love that they’re completely mess-free—no worrying about spills, markers on the walls, or stained clothes. The pages dry quickly, so they can reuse them over and over again. The pen is easy for little hands to hold, and everything is compact enough to toss in my bag for on-the-go entertainment.
We’ve purchased several different versions (animals, vehicles, dinosaurs), and they enjoy them all. Great value, educational, and fun—highly recommend for toddlers and preschoolers!

Could there be a better travel product to entertain a late toddler? I have yet to discover one so universally loved and engaging as the Water Wow colouring books series. We own four of these things and my son just can’t get enough of them. He squeals with excitement when we bring out the simple plastic reservoir pen and his book.
The vehicles book is just as good as the rest. The concept is fundamentally simple: run the water-infused brush over the page for colours to appear. It’s that simple. No fuss, no ink, no special activity required. Even the brush is simple by design, a twist-off plastic grip to fill with water and a white brush part. My little guy mashed ours flat within minutes with his heavy handed approach, but it still works more or less fine.
Heavy cardboard pages stand up to little hands squishing and pressing from all angles to make the truck turn red or the sports car appear blue. Never fear! Even dumping all the water on this, as little ones figure out how to unscrew the brush, won’t cause much of a mess. It really is just water.
This product is simple genius, it really is. As a parent I appreciate how portable it is. We stand our book up on its side with the pages separated to speed up the drying process. The only drawback is the plastic pouch holding onto the pen. It’s not very durable or easy to open on some packages, and more than once I’ve popped it out accidentally. That design could be better.
Hint: Buy more than one of these if you have a long car trip or flight ahead because the pages take a bit to dry. Rotating between the same two can entertain a kid for up to an hour or more, and you can appreciate how powerful and delightful that is for child and parent.

These books are great gift and great stocking stuffers. I always leave one of my diaper bag and in the car as they’re great things to pull out when you need especially if you’re out for dinner at a restaurant or on an airplane.
That being said, they’re also great to have laying around your house to pull out as it’s zero mess and they are able to do it entirely by themselves other than filling up the water in the pen. There is also a little search and find for each page which once I get older, they enjoy.

My kids LOVE these! Mess free and toddler friendly- I change up the application and sometimes give them a paint brush and tell them they are painting. Just watch the marker… my toddler bit the tip off but I blame the toddler and not the product. I love these so much, I’ve even given them as gifts

We got a set of these for my toddler when we were traveling. These were great for no mess coloring and kept him entertained for a solid 30 minutes (and eternity in toddler land) After it dries the kiddos can do it all over again. I will say just be careful with how we you get the pages. If you let your kiddo repeatedly drown the pages in water the book will wear out much sooner!

These reusable water wow activity pads are the perfect seated activity for busy toddlers. They are durable, compact, and easy to throw in a purse or backpack. I love the thick pages and how quick the water erases – no sticky or torn pages. The water stays in the pen and doesn’t drip from the brush or sides – as long as it’s properly sealed. The plastic containers on the front is resealable so the pens can be stored in there when not in use. The colors are vibrant and the pictures are creative. Perfect for order learning. The price is very reasonable and they are easy to add to stocking, easter baskets, or birthday bags. I highly recommend these to everyone.

My 8 year old has turned into quite the little makeup artist. I ordered this for her to play with in the car for long trips, It took approximately 10 minutes to color all the pages which was more coloring a facial portrait than applying makeup but she got a kick out of it anyway. Some of the pictures dried before she was finished coloring them and 2 held on to colored hair for longer than a minute, but all in all it is a good quality paint with water. I pulled it out one day when she wanted to paint and I didn’t have time for her to get things out and put them away. She got a giggle out of it and there was no clean up time at all. The brush is stored on the book, so it’s easy to keep together. It dries very quickly if turned on it’s side. The price is a little high for 4 pages to color. For ages 3 & up.
